Buncha Qrunch [Giveaway]

The only reason I am allowing myself to purposely use the word buncha in the title of this post is because despite my general abhorrence of misspellings and grammatical inaccuracies in product labeling and advertising, I figure changing “a bunch of” to buncha was OK since the product I am about to talk to you about is misspelled also…and I like it.

What is that product, you ask?

Qrunch Burgers!

I was contacted by the good people at Qrunch Foods to sample and review these quinoa-and-millet-based burgers.

Always a fan of a good veggie burger–especially one that actually packs protein like a good meat burger ‘substitute’ and isn’t just a bunch of vegetables mashed together for me to then crumble up on MORE vegetables*–

–I was eager to give the Qrunch burgers a ‘go.’

And I vowed not to just crumble them up on salad.

OK. After the first one.

and i actually CUT it. not crumbled. so...ha!

Despite not being as flavorful as my other (manufactured) favorites, these Qrunch burgers toast up astoundingly well in the toaster oven, allowing them to live up to their name.

(And when I say “not as flavorful” that certainly doesn’t mean you won’t feel some heat from that Spicy Italian…)

Remember chicken patties from middle school?

Well, the outer ‘crust’ of the Qrunch burger is cornmeal-esque, like that, but with a not-too grainy texture inside, so the whole effect is almost like eating a hush puppy! [That, y’all, is a VERY good thing.]

Granted, as they are super grain-based (not a bad thing), they can be a bit dry. Putting on a bun (or bread)–even if I wanted to–wouldn’t necessarily be a good plan.*

*Unless you had a TON of ketchup waiting for me. [And a tomato. Because I like tomatoes AND ketchup on my burgers, thankyouverymuch.]

mustard, HP sauce, relish, and sauerkraut help too. :)

Putting it on top of some of the Ezekiel 4:9 Flax Bread (that I reviewed yesterday) was WAY too much of a dense, carb-heavy situation, and I ended up having to divide and conquer.

Gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, nut-free, corn-free, wheat-free…I’m pretty sure they fit into almost anyone’s diet. [Except maybe paleo…?]

And now, COST-free, too. At least for one of you. :)

Well they sound interesting, and I would absolutely top them with a fried and runny egg. Maybe some fresh crispy spinach and some tomato slices (when they are back in season) and you’d be good to go.

Hush puppies?!? Mmmmmm. haha These sound great. I’d probably throw them on a sandwich thin or bake sauce and cheese on them like lil’ pizzas.

I’d def toast ’em up, as I’m a bit fan of the crispy edges like you..then I’d maybe cut em into strips for some lettuce wraps..aka portable salad? topped with some hummus or some sorta sauce of course :)

I wanna try! I wanna try ’em! I’d probably put them on a salad – that’s my favorite way to eat a veggie burger. Or on a bun with a lot of avocado….mmm!

Yum!! I have Celiac disease and cannot eat gluten so these are perfection! I’d top them with lots of avocado and ketchup!

Always cool to try something new! Quinoa + veggie burger= good combo :) To start, I think I’d go traditional sandwich style on a Trader Joe’s everything bagel thin with some avocado, onion, sriracha, and nutritional yeast :) yum!

I love putting veggie burgers on top of salads, buns are so overrated. And a runny egg would just make it they much better.

Quinoa burgers?? Those sound amazing!! I would either serve mine on a bun or top a salad with it. I stay pretty traditional with my “veggie” burgers.

A couple of times week I make a bunch of sauteed spinach with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, then heat up a black bean burger and put it on top. I love quinoa so I bet these burgers are amazing!

These look awesome – honestly I’ve seen then around but I thought they were same as the very processed “quorn” brand so I never really gave them a second look. Your hush puppy and the middle school spicy chicken patty descriptions may be the reason I go try these.

I would toast this up and serve it with some roasted potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, and ketchup!

These sound awesome!!
I would chop up and eat in lettuce wraps with hummus gobs, guacamole and chopped tomatoes… ( there may be some ketchup too…!)

I would definitely put this burger over a salad! That’s my favorite way to eat any kind of veggie burger! They look delicious! I would love to try them!

OMG…These are the best “veggie” Burger I have ever had straight from my toaster! The Italian really has a punch of spice…I’ve enjoyed them over salad and with a little homemade mayo, tomato, and pickles! One patty is all you need as it is very filling! A great evening meal without being too heavy.
