The Start of Something New (York)

The day started off early, with half-awake family members gathering at the local diner for breakfast.Although the creamed chipped beef was tempting…*

*OK. Not really.…I was focused only on coffee. [Waking up for a random hour in the middle of the night will do that do you.]In fact, I passed up the diner food completely……substituting a different breakfast. [I had packed overnight oats of sorts: ginger-infused oats cooked the night before, covered with blueberries and a dollop of Georgia mayhaw jelly.] Those tasted SO good to me. Cold oats? Yeah. I’m over it being weird. You probably are too…but drinking hot coffee with a straw? That might be a little odd. :)So, what’s with this early morning breakfast? This coffee in the car? And why did I have so many snacks packed?* *OK. I always have so many snacks packed…but that’s beside the point.

It was the start of a Sister Smart Road Trip…obviously.

Armed with handwritten directions (and the navigational system director who nearly drove me crazy*)–

*You should NEVER interrupt someone’s ‘jam,’ even if they are veering off course…

–along with the High School MusicalSoundtrack(s)–

This could be the start of something new...

–and protected by Percy, our mascot––we were off!But where did we go? Well, the only clue* I’ll give you for now is the place where I set my wine that night.

*OK, and I practically spoon fed you the answer in the post title…

[And if you can’t figure it out…it’s OK. It took me awhile to connect those dots, too.]
