Just so you know, I think “suh-WEET!” should be spelled as such, but I couldn’t remember if I’d already titled a post that before…so I chose and alternative spelling.

My
latest attempt at freelancing for
Breathe Magazine gave me the chance to look back on the insane number of recipes I’ve used involving
sweet potatoes.
It also made me realize that the potato passion of which I write is greater than any love I have ever expressed for a man. And I quote:
Oh my goll, y’all. The way that an hour or so in a 400 degree oven (with just a few fork pokes to prevent explosion) can result in such addictive, caramelized succulence masked by a (totally undervalued) knobby brown (or occasionally pinkish red) skin? It reduces me to a mannerless fiend bent on consuming all parts of the potato with as much swiftness as I possibly can. [Just ask Mama Smart about the time she watched me rabidly consume some 'tater skins she had abandoned for a batch of whipped sweets.]
Weird.^
^And not in a “a good way.” This must have been what fake Alton meant when he said I had passion for everything except him. (Oops.)
So, go on and check out my latest Six Twists post, this time about the sanctuary of sweet (potato), Laugh at my witty verbosity. Salivate over the succulent ideas you see. Marvel at my ability to so lovingly describe the tuber without ever once using the word sweet.*
*OK, so I haven’t actually checked this out. But I think it’s true.
I did not, however let the Breathe readers in on my secret occasional use of the sweet potato as a tin can telephone substitute.
Goll, I love that picture. I don’t even care that I’ve reposted it perhaps 5,465 times.

…for the
Groundnut Stew I made for Mama Smart, featuring, you guessed it,
sweet potatoes.*
*And (one of my many) other passions: peanut butter.
I was in the company of
legit ‘famous’
bloggers.
What? What?* [And you know what voice to use.]
*And it is for reasons like the facthat I say “What? What?” (and pretend to talk on sweet potato phones) that prohibit me from ever becoming ‘famous.’
———————-
And just when I thought I had reached the ultimate level of blogger faux-fame for my sweet potato obsession…I received an e-mail this morning that FOODBUZZ chose my Cranberry Tempeh Stew with–that’s right y’all–Sweet Potatoes (and Kale) submission as one of their Flavors of the Month!*
*I’m convinced this is solely due to the fact that I introduced Beth from Editorial to the glorious joys of Multigrain Peanut Butter Cheerios, but I’ll take my props where I can get them.
Please don’t think I’m bragging. This is pure disbelief.
But if I have to be recognized for something. I’m glad it is my beloved sweet potato.
———————————–
And now onto something that is just plain sweet.
I might not have eaten it, but I had to photograph it.
My little purple alien constructed from cupcake, doughnut hole, and peach-ring-covered DumDums.
Kids are so cool.*
*Or should I say sweet? [And probably also "parents," as that is who actually made it.]

Your passion for sweet potatoes is just one of the many reasons I heart you. Sweet Potato S'mores is the most brilliant idea I've ever seen.
Congrats on both features, Miss Famous Smart Kitchen.
I go a little crazy for sweet potatoes too. I just can't get enough. I steal the skins from the hubby.
