[Dirty] POP! (Corn)

Happy National Popcorn Day!

In honor of today, I wrote a song. [Because, duh, that's what I do. And it has been awhile, has it not?] Thanks for the inspiration, (you-were-always-hot) Justin, Lance, Joey, Chris, and J.C. (with your black mesh shirt and strange facial hair). Please click here to sing along.

POP(corn)!

[I'm leaving out the dirty...it has connotations I don't approve of for this day. You should never eat dirty popcorn. Unless it's "dirty" because it is covered in cinnamon or something.]

Sick and tired of hearing all these people talk about
What’s the deal with POPcorn
When’s it gonna fade out?

The thing you’ve got to realize
What we’re poppin’ is not a trend
It’s got the gift of whole grain goodness
Been around since 1610*

*I have no idea if that is true. But I’m pretty sure Pocahontas invented it. Disney implied that, and everything Disney says is true.

Doesn’t matter…
What type you choose
Or what toppings you put on*

*Although be careful about the butter at the movie theater…

All that matters

Is that you recognize
I will eat it ’til it’s gone!Doesn’t matter….
If you’re a kettle corn kid
Or a salty, savory[Popcorn Indiana is the best bagged, pre-popped corn I've had in a LOOONG time...well, aside from Cornucopia here in Austin.]

All that matters
Is that you get POPPED
And you share some of it with me. :)

Do you ever sit and eat,
This happy little treat?
Cheesy or caramel-sweet

[Thank you, Boy Scouts of America, for making the best boxed light popcorn I've ever eaten.]

Feel. It. When. Your.

[If you can't get Blue Ridge Kettle Corn from a bag at a UVA football game and experience that glory...I am sad for you.]

Air popper starts to pop
Baby you can’t stop
The crunchy kernels are all you’ve got
This must be…

POP(corn)!

From the ages of 12 to 16 I seriously saw *NSYNC in concert at least 6 times. Loved your song. :)

I listened to the song while reading. It brought me back to a piece of my childhood where things were just a tad bit more carefree :)

I could go for some kettlecorn right about now.

You need a verse about Carmel corn, just for me. Mmmmm

I haven't thought about that song in about 5 years. This blog post instantly took me back to grad school where it always came on in the Rec Center when I was on the stairmaster. That and Oops I Did It Again.
