On the first day of Christmas,* your true love^ gave to you…

*Which may have been yesterday, depending on your beliefs…
^Um…actually…me? So, unless you are Adam Richman or someone** who is biding their sweet time waiting to contact me, these didn’t really come from your true love.
**If that someone happens to be Adam Richman, all the better really.

Ms. Smart’s nightmares come true…

In the time it took me to make breakfast….(granted, it was pomegranate white-chocolate pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon)…

It’s not that I don’t like snow.

It’s that last year around this time I almost died in a blizzard while going from Charlottesville to Richmond to catch a plane to Mexico. I’m not sure how I am alive. Or why our plane was the only flight to leave Richmond that day.

It’s also that after surviving that ordeal, snow kept us housebound in Virginia for three weeks of despair. No driving. No nothing. And when we could drive, people were mean about their parking spaces. MEAN. It was like snow had brought out the worst in the world.

I’m pretty sure a huge part of my decision to move to Austin was the fact that I visited shortly after the epic winter of 2010 in Charlottesville, when snow mountains lasted in parking lots until April and kids had off of school for three weeks at a time.

Not to have the (literal) physical pains I came to associate with weathermen talking about ‘snow in our future’ was such a welcome relief, I couldn’t get to Texas fast enough!
(Even Zelda’s sad…)

So yes, I am a bit of a Grinch with SNOW Christmas.

The forecast for my return to Austin?
70 degrees and sunny. :)
