Hey there, Smarties! Did you miss me? I didn’t forget about you, I promise, I’ve just been busy soaking up a whole lot of love.
*
*I wink, there, like it’s that kind of love. But no. You’ll see.
Speaking of missing….did anyone lose a strawberry outside of HEB? I found one yesterday afternoon, sitting patiently on the sidewalk, clearly having been abandoned by a neglectful Mama Berry. Unfortunately, good sense kept me from adopting it.I couldn’t help but take a picture, however. That’s the crazy sense in me.
The quote from this post title comes from none other than Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers ["Oh Adeline," if you are curious] who I told you I’d be spending the evening* with last night.
*Again, I make it sounds like that kind of lovin‘, but, again, sadly, no.I loved every single minute of the concert.
I have seen them probably 8 times, now, and they just get better every. single. show.
Poor Katelyn, who was having her first time experience* with the SK6ers, but I would not speak to from the moment Stephen started singing to the final note of the final song.
*Again, not like that.
Speaking of love. I LOVED my sweet parallel parking job.
Yeah, I know that has nothing to do with food. Neither does the concert, really. But I needed to share.
Even MORE love…I got a text during the concert (and a phone call, but couldn’t hear it) informing me that my cousin Lindsey got engaged!!!!That would be me, Ted (her fiance), and Lindsey this summer when I stopped in Charlotte on my drive to Austin. I cannot wait for what I’m sure will be a wonderful spring wedding. SO, SO excited for her!
You know what else I love? Cupcakes.
OK, that’s sort of a lie. I love the icing on cupcakes, and really I prefer homemade-from-the-box, sloppy, imperfect, cake crumbs stuck in the icing, layer cakes, but cupcakes will do in a pinch…and I had a Groupon I needed to use for half a dozen from delish.Check ‘em out: Red Velvet, Carrot, Banana Chocolate, Black & White, Mexican Vanilla, and Lemon!
I decided to be “good” and take them to my friend Chris’ birthday tonight, where I will surely love forcing everyone to cut them up so I can try every single one.
Perhaps saying “Here’s a gift, now let me try it,” is not approved by the Emily Post rules of etiquette, but hey, a girl needs her sweets.
However, the biggest LOVE I have to talk about involves y’all! Yes, my lovely little Smarties, because of you I made it to the next round of Project Food Blog. Thanks so much for voting for me.
Consequently, I spent the better part of today working on Challenge #2. I may have bent the “rules” and “requirements” a wee bit, but it will be, in the words of Barney Stinson, “LEGENDARY.”
Or in the very least, minorly amusing.
I’ll reveal that to you tomorrow, but until then. Here’s a hint. Involving hearts. And more love.

I get that same intense satisfaction from parallel parking well. Something that happens… rarely to me.
Also also I am going to ACL. Meetup meetup?!
Yay congrats on making it to the next round!!
Love the cupcakes!
