Perhaps you remember when I helped Katie celebrate Hug a Fat month by dancing with my Nutty Butter?
Well, July was Hug a FRUIT month, and, just in the nick of time, I decided to have a little fruit fiesta!
But what fruit to choose?
By now you know I love my limes…[you have seen my blog header, right?]
And I have a playful passion
make me cheerful
Especially because they can require fun kitchen gadgets.
Don’t you know I’m also just wild
?[Especially at $1.49 each!]
And I tend to go GAGA
But when it comes down to it…my favorite fruit
is the unassuming, always appealing, and utterly attractive….
Pair a Pink Lady with sharp, aged cheese. Slather slices of a Gala in any form of nut butter. Turn a Golden Delicious into cinnamon-spiced sauce. Just eat the Jonagold (as they are the best) or crunch on a Cameo!
Delicious no matter what time of year, fun to pick by the bushel in the fall, useful in both sweet and savory dishes….from apple butter to apple pie to adding an intriguing surprise in a chopped salad…apples are accessible, inexpensive, and is there anything more astoundingly refreshing than the first bite of one that is perfectly crisp?
Maybe it’s because I’m a teacher…but I ADORE APPLES
Bonus: They have stickers…
…that inevitably end up on your forehead if you hang out in elementary school.
Hold and “hug” ‘em…
Kiss and love ‘em…
Daydream of ways in which to use ‘em!
And maybe, just maybe, stick one on your head and wait around for William Tell to shoot it with an arrow.
And then, you should probably eat it.
If it hasn’t been shot to smithereens.
But wash it first.
Just a thought.
